It’s been a big year for our website! We’ve redesigned it from the ground up to make it more up-to-date, comprehensive, and easier to search. Our users have responded enthusiastically to the new look and feel.
Here’s a quick overview of our most popular content in 2012:
- As in years past, our Educational Games and Find Lessons and Resources pages were our users’ most popular destinations.
- Perhaps because the theme of last year’s Media Literacy Week was “Privacy Matters”, our resources on online privacy were among our most popular, in particular the Privacy Playground and Privacy Pirates games.
- Our new section on Cybersecurity drew lots of traffic – especially our Cybersecurity Consumer Tipsheets, as was our expanded section on body image.
- Many of the media literacy topics we’ve been addressing in our lesson plans since we were first founded are still clearly among the most significant for our stakeholders: our most popular lesson was about food advertising while other popular lessons dealt with gender issues, violence in media and skepticism and critical thinking.
Thanks to all our readers and visitors and please keep coming back as we’ll be launching new digital and media literacy lessons, games and resources throughout the coming year!

I am an educator in the North
I am an educator in the North (above the Arctic circle), I would like to know how do educators in small, isolated communities keep on top of the ever changing pace of technology and innovation? How does one convey those changes into a classroom setting and assist students with these technological changes? Please advise.
Great question! As well as
Great question! As well as this blog and our news services, there are some good resources available online to help keep up with changes in technology and education such as THE Journal (http://thejournal.com/Home.aspx). Edudemic (http://www.edudemic.com/), Edutopia (http://www.edutopia.org/) and The MacArthur Foundation’s Spotlight on Digital Media and Learning (http://spotlight.macfound.org/).
