MediaSmarts Open Call for Teen Fact-Checkers Fall 2026
MediaSmarts, Canada’s centre for digital media literacy and a registered charity, is excited to announce that the bilingual Teen Fact-Checking Network (TFCN) program - Réseau vérif ado in Canada will be continuing into 2026/2027! This international program was started in 2018 by MediaWise, a nonpartisan, nonprofit initiative of the Poynter Institute in the U.S., and has since expanded to Brazil, Germany, India, Spain, and Bulgaria.

Breaking the Cycle of Youth Cyberbullying
Breaking the Cycle of Youth Cyberbullying (BTC) is an intervention research project designed and developed by MediaSmarts. This project aims to develop, pilot, adapt and disseminate a culturally safe, evidence-informed cyberbullying prevention program for youth ages 12 to 17 in schools and community settings across Canada. In this report, we detail the methodology and findings from a needs assessment conducted in March and April 2026 to better understand the experiences, concerns, and needs of youth in Canada regarding preventing and addressing cyberbullying and online violence.

We’ve been organizing old toys now that our kids are older, and I’ve come to accept that I don’t need to keep every Hot Wheel, My Little Pony and Playmobil we have. So, closets and storage boxes are getting cleared out and donated.
