Physical and Health Education
Many curricular expectations in B.C. Physical and Health Education courses relate to media and digital literacy. Media and digital literacy skills and concepts can be found in many of the Big Ideas, Curricular Competencies and specific course content. This is reflected by the curriculum’s focus not only on physical health, but also on intellectual, mental, and social health and how these four elements of well-being are connected. According to the B.C. Ministry of Education, the “curriculum highlights the interconnections between an individual’s health and his or her well-being, the connections between physical and mental health, the importance of positive interpersonal relations, and how interactions with the community affect overall well-being.”
