In 2016 Nunavut launched a comprehensive K-12 curriculum that includes locally-developed courses and courses adapted from other provinces and territories. Curriculum documents and other resources can be accessed at

The Nunavut curriculum is divided into four strands:

Uqausiliriniq, which includes skills related to communication, language, creative & artistic expression, and reflective & critical thinking;

Iqqaqqaukkaringniq, which encompasses mathematics, innovation & technology skills, analytical & critical thinking, and solution-seeking;

Nunavusiutit, which relates to heritage & culture, history, geography, environmental science, civics and economics;

and Aulajaaqtut, skills relating to wellness & safety; physical, social, emotional and cultural wellness; goal setting; volunteerism; and survival;

Media and digital literacy outcomes are found in all four strands at various grade levels. Click on each grade to see how MediaSmarts resources meet the curricular expectations of each strand.
