Outcome Chart - Saskatchewan - English Language Arts 6

This outcome chart contains media-related learning outcomes from the Saskatchewan, Grade 6 English Language Arts curriculum, with links to supporting resources on the MediaSmarts site.

In the elementary curriculum in Saskatchewan, learning objectives for media studies are included as a category within the supporting domain, Oracy and Literacy: Media. Media-related objectives can also be found within Speaking and Listening, Reading and Response to Literature, Writing, Educational Drama, Research and Presentation and Computer Applications.

MNet Wins NAWeb 2003 'Educational Internet Site of the Year' Award

OTTAWA, October 23, 2003 – Media Awareness Network (MNet) is proud to be the recipient of the Educational Internet Site of the Year Award presented during the North American Web Conference (NAWeb 2003) held this week at the University of New Brunswick in Frederiction, NB. The NAWeb 2003 Award honours MNet’s bilingual media education site – www.media-awareness.ca – for its innovation, design and contribution to education.

English as a Second Language Overview

In Ontario, media components are included in the English as a Second Language curriculum in the Social-Cultural Competence and Media Literacy strand. The document English as a Second Language and English Literacy Development (2007) identifies four overall expectations in this strand:
