Ottawa, June 25, 2012 – MediaSmarts (formerly known as Media Awareness Network) is pleased to announce it has partnered with the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) for the third phase of its landmark research study, Young Canadians in a Wired World.
This chart contains media-related learning outcomes from Ontario, Curriculum for Economics CIE3M: The Individual and the Economy, with links to supporting resources on the MediaSmarts site.

The 7-9 English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum integrates the six strands of language arts: reading, writing, listening, speaking, viewing and representing. The program encourages the study and creation of a wide variety of text types and forms, including oral, print, visual and multimedia formats.
Through a community-based research approach, our projects honour participants’ diverse range of digital media literacy strengths, experiences and expertise. We design projects that create safe spaces for participants to share their thoughts, experiences, concerns and solutions about digital media literacy issues. We aim to empower participants by providing them with knowledge and skills that they can take with them as they continue to navigate the online world and digital technology.
The British Columbia Science curriculum has a number of expectations relating to digital and media literacy, primarily in connection with recognizing and correcting for bias, testing hypotheses, and using digital media for scientific investigation.
