Kindergarten

Ontario has a single curriculum for Junior and Senior Kindergarten. According to the document The Kindergarten Program (2016), "the Kindergarten program reflects the belief that four- and five-year-olds are capable and competent learners, full of potential and ready to take ownership of their learning. It approaches children as unique individuals who live and learn within families and communities." Links to digital and media literacy are found throughout the four "frames" or broad areas of learning, Belonging and Contributing, Self-Regulation and Well-Being, Demonstrating Literacy and Mathematics Behaviours, and Problem Solving and Innovating.

The 2019 Addendum to the Kindergarten Program supplemented and reinforced the importance of teaching digital literacy skills relating to online safety.
