A discussion paper focusing on the impact of media – especially interactive technology – on civic and political engagement for children and youth. It also looks at the ways in which educators can effectively integrate digital literacy into their classrooms to foster and support youth civic engagement.

CIRA partners with MediaSmarts on new research into the digital lives of Canadian youth

OTTAWA, April 10, 2019 – The partnership supports pioneering research into the digital lives of Canadian families

The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) is pledging its support for the next phase of a unique, multi-year research project that investigates the online behaviours of Canadian youth. This platinum sponsorship of $82,600 is CIRA’s latest in support of national not-for-profit organization MediaSmarts, Canada’s centre for digital and media literacy.

New digital skills workshops for under-represented women across Canada

TELUS commits $75,000 to digital literacy skills for Canadian children

New platinum sponsorship of MediaSmarts will support research and education to tackle cyberbullying and other pressing issues

OTTAWA, June 6, 2018 – MediaSmarts, Canada’s centre for digital and media literacy, is pleased to welcome TELUS as a platinum sponsor with a $75,000 contribution. TELUS had previously sponsored the charitable organization at the silver ($30,000) level for many years.

MediaSmarts provides digital literacy workshops to libraries in New Brunswick and Manitoba

Ottawa (July 5, 2016) – MediaSmarts, a leading Canadian centre for digital and media literacy, is pleased to announce that francophone libraries in New Brunswick and Manitoba now have free access to its licensed digital literacy program, Web Awareness Workshop Series. This follows a similar partnership with Quebec libraries that launched in May 2015.
