Ottawa, ON — March 27, 2026 — Canada’s First AI Literacy Day Launches March 27

OTTAWA…. MediaSmarts, Canada’s leading centre for digital and media literacy and the Canadian Teachers’ Federation (CTF), today announced this year’s theme for Media Literacy Week, from Oct. 31 to Nov. 4, will focus on hands-on media creation for children and teens.

October 21, 2024 – MediaSmarts has brought back the house hippo – this time to address the rise of AI-generated deepfakes and to encourage everyone to check the information they see online before they share it.

OTTAWA, March 28, 2018 – A new game is coming to Canadian classrooms and homes, designed not just to entertain children but also to teach them how to protect their privacy. Data Defenders, produced by the not-for-profit digital literacy organization MediaSmarts, shows kids how ad brokers try to collect their personal information and offers strategies to keep that information private.
