MediaSmarts and Ontario Library Association partner to make digital literacy workshops available across the province

Ottawa, July 24, 2012 – MediaSmarts (formerly known as Media Awareness Network) is today announcing that all public library members of the Ontario Library Association (OLA) will now have access to its Web Awareness Workshop Series through a one-year licence agreement funded by a grant through Google Canada.

MediaSmarts launches new resources for classrooms and homes in recognition of Media Literacy Week

Ottawa, ON (November 4, 2013) – MediaSmarts, Canada’s centre for digital and media literacy, recognized the start of Canada’s 8th annual Media Literacy Week with the release of a series of new resources and activities for parents, teachers, children and youth.

The week, which runs from November 4 to 8, is hosted by MediaSmarts and the Canadian Teachers’ Federation (CTF). Activities are taking place across Canada to recognize the importance of media and digital literacy skills for young people.

New interactive game helps kids understand privacy policies and terms of use

Ottawa (March 31, 2016) –To help young people make informed decisions when going online, MediaSmarts, Canada's centre for digital and media literacy, has launched a new educational game, Click if You Agree. The game teaches teens and preteens the skills they need to read and understand the legal policies on websites and in software they use. 

MNet launches its new brand for the digital age

Ottawa, May 29, 2012 – Media Awareness Network (MNet) unveiled its new name and redesigned website today at its Annual General Meeting. MNet, Canada’s internationally recognized centre for digital and media literacy, is now called “MediaSmarts”.
