TORONTO, October 17, 2002 - Girl Guides of Canada and the Media Awareness Network today launched You Go Girl in Technology - an innovative new Internet literacy initiative designed specifically to help Canadian girls learn to be safe, wise and responsible Internet users.

Media Awareness Network Launches Enhanced Web Site to Help Parents “Be Web Aware”

March 1, 2010, Ottawa - In honour of Calgary's Online Safety Week, Media Awareness Network (MNet) launched an enhanced Be Web Aware Web site today, to better reflect changes in digital media that have occurred in recent years.

The Be Web Aware site, which was originally developed in 2004, is an authoritative Canadian source of information on the benefits and the risks of the Internet for children and youth.

Lesson Length: This lesson takes place over two weeks, with roughly three hours class time mandatory and an additional two to six hours for the optional media production activity.

Ottawa (April 19, 2017) – A new study released today by the not-for-profit organization MediaSmarts and researchers from The eQuality Project shows how teens carefully compose, select, and edit the photos they share on social media to build and maintain a consciously crafted image. The report To Share or Not to Share: How teens make privacy decisions about photos on social media reveals how teens decide what photos to share online and the pressure they feel to always post images that show them in the best possible light – while not standing out from the crowd.
