MNet Wins NAWeb 2003 'Educational Internet Site of the Year' Award

OTTAWA, October 23, 2003 – Media Awareness Network (MNet) is proud to be the recipient of the Educational Internet Site of the Year Award presented during the North American Web Conference (NAWeb 2003) held this week at the University of New Brunswick in Frederiction, NB. The NAWeb 2003 Award honours MNet’s bilingual media education site – www.media-awareness.ca – for its innovation, design and contribution to education.

Young Canadians learn to tell fact from fake for Media Literacy Week 2018

OTTAWA, April 18, 2018 – MediaSmarts, Canada’s centre for digital and media literacy, and the Canadian Teachers’ Federation (CTF) are pleased to announce that this year’s Media Literacy Week will focus on helping students decipher truth from fiction online.

Boys are just as likely as girls to send sexts of themselves, reveals a new study on young people, sexuality and the Internet.

Ottawa, ON (May 29, 2014) – There is little gender difference in those youth who have sent a sext of themselves – defined as “a sexy, nude or partially nude photo” – to someone, although sexts of boys are more likely to be forwarded,– according to a study of Canadian students released today by MediaSmarts. Boys are also more likely than girls to have forwarded a sext sent to them and are twice as likely to report having received a sext that was forwarded by someone other than the original creator.

Canada’s Teen Fact-Checking Network Renewed for 2025 After Successful First Year

National Media Education Week to be held November 2006

Ottawa, February 6, 2006 – The Canadian Teachers' Federation (CTF) and the Media Awareness Network (MNet) are pleased to announce a partnership to launch and promote National Media Education Week to be held the week of November 19-24, 2006. OTTAWA, March 31, 2004 — Media Awareness Network (MNet), Canada’s leading Internet education organization, is celebrating new levels of success for its bilingual media education Web site, which has attracted more than 3.2 million unique visits since its re-launch in March 2003. This represents a dramatic 139% increase in unique visits in one year.
