Curricular Overview
Digital media literacy is found in many places in the Newfoundland curriculum, but is explicitly mentioned in English Language Arts starting at the Intermediate level, which aims to “build the essential oral communication, reading, writing, and media literacy skills necessary for success in daily life as well as secondary and post-secondary studies.” At the Secondary level, students are expected to “interact with a wide variety of texts” and “respond creatively when using digital, live or paper texts” as well as to “think and respond critically to texts they read, view or hear.”
