Description : This lesson familiarizes students with the marketing techniques used for snack food ads in television and magazines. Before class, each student will prepare summaries of three food commercials. The lesson begins with a discussion about advertising that includes both the Canadian Guidelines for Advertising to Children, and a review of common advertising techniques. Using the commercials they have logged, students will summarize and discuss the advertising strategies used to reach young consumers. As a final group activity, students will produce their own food commercials - based on the strategies discussed in class.
