Rogers was a valued sponsor of MediaSmarts (formerly Media Awareness Network) from 2000 to 2007 and we were extremely pleased to welcome Rogers back as a Gold Sponsor in 2013.
Over the years Rogers has worked closely with MediaSmarts on a variety of Internet safety programs and resources to benefit Canadian children and their parents, including:
- Tech Essentials: In 2013, MediaSmarts partnered with Rogers on its Tech Essentials program, which includes a website with information on a variety of online safety and security topics of interest to parents.
- Online safety literature: For several years Rogers’ included a MediaSmarts’ Internet safety brochure in its “welcome kits” to new Internet customers.
- Street Smarts for the Net: What every parent should know education sessions: In 2003 and 2004, MediaSmarts delivered Rogers’ sponsored school-based online safety workshops throughout Ontario and New Brunswick. The sessions were designed to equip parents and teachers with practical information on the benefits and challenges of the Internet for young people.
- Public Service Announcements (PSAs): Rogers Television produced and regularly aired two PSAs – Learning the Rules of the Road and Being Web Aware – encouraging viewers to learn more about online safety from the MediaSmarts’ website.
